Family Meeting

Last night we had ANOTHER family meeting.  This time we needed to discuss with the girls that the shepherd’s employment is on the line because of a video he put out… on compassion.  How is that for  ironic?

The shepherd started the meeting by playing the video for the girls.  They then started responding with, “I like it!”

The shepherd then explained that “The calling of God on my life has been to tell people that God loves them, even people the church doesn’t accept.   A couple of the elders don’t like the teaching in the video and they want me to retract it.  I am not going to.”

The girls completely understood the teaching of the video — when two bad choices are all that exist, choose the one with compassion.  You could almost hear my girls say, “Duh!”  It was an easy concept for them because they have seen the teaching lived out by the shepherd.

The girls are not freaking out at the elders.  They are not angry.  They simply do not understand the controversy.  Of course you choose compassion when you have two bad choices.  Of course you have a framework from which to choose that includes people and not just law.  Of course.  Then again, they have grown up with the shepherd’s radical understanding of Scripture.

These girls may not have thee easiest lot before them, but they sure were blessed with a godly, thinking daddy!
