Hurt for the shepherd

Each day the shepherd goes to work and pours himself into real study of the Word.  He prepares a sermon, creates a video (creative and editing), leads the staff, and does some pastoral care.  The work hours are long.

He pours himself into the sermon and videos.  He enjoys the product and the process of getting the product.  But even more than that, there is a concern for how long this job will be here.  The shepherd is creating a resume intentionally by colecting the sermons and videos.

I asked this morning, “With the budget crisis, what odds do you give you will lose employment?”  The shepherd gives it a 40% chance he will be cut/fired.  I move into my little world and forget all of the pressure she shepherd has upon him…  My world has been distanced from the church for the past couple of weeks.  I forget how the pressures pile up for him from all directions.

I don’t understand.  The shepherd  is so faithful to proclaiming the Word.  Why is the journey so difficult?  I see the journey was hard for the prophets of old as well.  Why would God make revelation/understanding such a frustrating process?

Hey, I know how much you care. I couldn’t do it without you!

I am hopeful that life moves toward the sixty percent.
