Home is…

Years ago, the Shepherd and I moved to the Deep South for Seminary.  We listened carefully to some advice about fitting in – “Don’t talk about ‘home’ as somewhere else.”  It made sense to us and  we took it to heart.  We tried to not talk much about what we had seen or done elsewhere, but embrace what was being done there.

I have used this concept since and have found it to be valuable in fitting in.  I have used it here as well.  But I am now feeling rebellion in me.  I am so stinkin’ home sick, I just want to go home.  I want to go where somebody cares about my thoughts, experiences, who I am.

I wish I could come out there and tease the kids and hug your neck and kiss your forehead and do the same for your shepherd. Admittedly his is easier to hit, but still. The sating goes “home is where when you have to go there they have to take you in” I would say they want to take you in. we love all of you and miss you too. Keep up the faith I am convinced you are making a difference in at least a few peoples lives. I know you do ours.

    Thanks Vernon.

Making a difference here? I believe the Shepherd is. It is a slow go. I believe we are where God called us. I am not sure I appreciate the calling.
