The shepherd received an email this morning that the Elders would like to meet with him and Tom after church. It was addressed to “Brothers” so one must be nervous.
We assume the shepherd’s job is secure. But it truly is an assumption. The financial situation makes it unlikely to be just a Rodney King, “Can’t we all just get along” moment.
I keep circling around to the frustration that the elders have made a decision and the shephard has no part of it. He will have to support the decision to the congregation but still has no ownership of the decision. I remind Derrick it takes a long time to change a mindset of a group. But honestly, it feels like there is a betrayal. That we are back to where we started with Derrick having no knowledge of what bomb shell is about to be dropped.
