Yesterday I went to one of the big box stores. After walking around, I found a bench to rest on while the Shepherd picked up my prescription.
I sat on the bench with my cane by my side. I was wearing a cap to cover my UGLY hair cut (from the brain surgeries). Pretty soon an elderly lady came and sat beside me. She too was using a cane and wearing a stocking cap. She started to share her story of cancer. She had assessed me and figured she and I were in a similar battle.
It is not the first “Battle Ground” story I have heard. I shared in several while at rehab. There are experiences one would have never fathomed until experiencing it. But you quickly recognize those around you with similar scars, canes, and stocking caps.
