The church has been operating on a shortfall since we arrived here. The shepherd asked about budget things when we first arrived and was instructed that it was not his to be concerned about.
It is now time for all departments to have their annual requests submitted for the new budget. The projections for giving are substantially less than the budget requests. The solution suggested by the elder in charge of the finance committee is “faith”.
The church is staff heavy. When the shepherd was hired, he made a staff member too many. The church has not budgeted or planned for deferred maintenance in the budget and still will have a $40,000 shortfall as is currently budgeted and projected.
The solution? We need more faith.
Not sure what else the elders are considering in the way of action.
