A couple of days ago my daughter, Bob, called me. She was very excited about having found roller blades for a reasonable price. At our previous address, our skating area was the top of the driveway and the two younger girls had spent hours enjoying skates. I asked Bob if there was a pair of skates available for both her and her older sister.
Yesterday Bob and EJ went to the path by our house and tested out the skates. Bob’s skates were faster than EJ’s so EJ went back to the path by herself with the faster skates. Shortly thereafter, a bicyclist pulled up to our house. EJ had crashed and was hurt pretty badly. The Shepherd jumped in the car and sure enough, EJ had broken both bones in her wrist.
A few hours later, while at the hospital, we learned of another teen from the church had been in a car accident. He was in ICU awaiting CT scans. Internal bleeding was the greatest concern.
I am not a big worrier. I am not overly dramatic about injuries and such. I would not have been too emotional about a broken wrist no matter what. But when you know another family in the church is awaiting tests from the CT scan, you have great perspective. It was just a broken wrist. In a few days it will be just an aggravation. Again, perspective is everything.
Scary stuff. Glad she is feeling better!
Glad she is ok, I would not see you as too excited over something minor like a broken bone or two, but I imagine the other was a little stressful for the other mom. will keep all three of you 2moms +bob in my prayers
