Worship with Freedom

Today, worship was lead by the music minister, S.  The praise team sounded good.  It was good to have S back.

When Ed proposed the sabbatical, it was with a spoken purpose.  Steve had revealed to Ed that it was sometimes difficult to worship God.  Ed decided it was because worship had become a job.  The sabbatical was to allow Steve to worship apart from leading worship.

Over the past few weeks while S has been off, he has visited some churches.  He has taken a couple of day trips with his family.  And he has used music to worship.  He refined a song he has written.

Today I saw a freshness in S.  However, I am not sure it was at all because of the time off. Instead, I think he feels the freedom of Ed’s removal.  That part of oppression is gone.  Though his daughter still is wounded, she is healing.  And with Ed out of the way, the entire family is free to function as a family.  The family can laugh, cry, make mistakes, grow, and live.  Without Ed in power, the family is free.  And today, I think S did worship more freely!

sad but true news S sometimes it is hard to worship God. sometimes we do not understand what his big picture is. Sometimes it is hard to figure out what He is doing. I confess that sometimes God and I are not the best of friends either. Part of it is my own shortcomings and part of it is my own dealings with the E’s of the world.

I hear you Vernon. Like all relationships, there is an ebb and flow. The emotions don’t tell the story at all. But, the emotions can be a strong reflection of the heart.
