Ed realizes the game has changed. Unfortunately, for Ed it is a game. For the rest of us, there is so much more at stake.
Ed is now trying to set up the shepherd; making sure he can point to things suggesting the shepherd’s “disobedience” to the elders. Ed wants to dictate who the shepherd speaks to and about what. He is angry about S having contact with the shepherd. Ed speaks easily and loosely of firing S and the shepherd.
Not sure what to do now. It all feels inevitable. Makes me want to cry. The shepherd is very gifted in preaching and caring for his flock. After this disaster, I don’t know if there will be another flock. Not sure it is worth it, either.
Me neither.
