The Bully loses power

Note From The Elders

Ed has resigned as an elder at the church, effective immediately.

That is the full announcement of the removal of an elder.  The elders don’t want to fuel gossip.  Instead of making a full explanation or apology, the elders left it to the shepherd to make a one line statement in the weekly newsletter.

I am disappointed the elders don’t have more understanding of what is involved in leadership.  Leaders must give direction.  They must know the destination and lead us there.  Instead, it seems the elders are functioning purely on a level of reaction to events.

Mike made the statement last week he would be resigning as elder soon.  I think he is tired.  I think he is doubting his skill in leading.  I like Mike — a.  I think it would be good for him to step down.  I think he is afraid of decisions and he has hindered the church.

It is going to be a new time.  I hope and pray it will be a new time of growth because we love God and people.  I hope and pray it is a new time because we are willing to embrace effective ministry… not a new time because of a void carelessly filled.

One Response to The Bully loses power

  1. shepherd says:

I too think it would be good. He sets a tone of secrecy.

All in all, he is a good elder and a great man. he is past his prime as an elder.
