Like you my FRIEND, I get things better when applied to relationships like marriage and parenting.................. that being said, if my kids said something to my hubby ABOUT me and he didn't remind them of their boundries then my kids would perceive that as agreeing with what they said! As though dad took side with them AGAINST mom. This would be dangerous territory. They outnumber us (lol) we can NEVER EVEN APPEAR divide. I hope the same should be true in th church, the elders and the shepherd should NEVER EVEN APPEAR divided.
I agree boundries are vital! But if those boundries aren't enforced by the "keepers" of them, what good are they? They become mere art on the wall having no power. Elders are to not only stand behind the Shepherd but stand alongside him as a trustworthy companion.
